Alopecia Areata

Most people are unaware that male pattern baldness is actually a form of alopecia known as androgenetic alopecia and is the most common type of hair loss affecting men. It typically starts with a receding hairline and thinning at the crown, and can eventually lead to complete baldness. There are about eight different types of alopecia but the two that I want to focus on include Areata and Totalis. Alopecia Areata causes patchy hair loss on the scalp or other areas of the body, while Alopecia Totalis typically results in complete hair loss on the scalp and body. While there is no cure for these conditions, they can be managed Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP). I’ve had the honor of working with a handful of Alopecia clients. It has been so amazing to see the change not just in their outward appearance but more importantly, their self-image and confidence.
